Purpose for this role

The Director, Data and AI Marketplace Delivery is accountable to ensure all lines of business across Hydro One have the appropriate data, analytics and AI roadmaps as well as the marketplace delivery teams supports the design, development and delivery of the data, analytics and AI use cases and projects while ensure the use cases and projects are aligned to enable the outcomes as laid out in the overall corporate strategy. To achieve this, Director, Data and AI Marketplace Delivery must work closely with the leadership across Hydro One to understand the current business capability data and AI landscape, the outcomes currently being achieved, and the changes required to meet existing and future business data and AI strategy. With this information, Director, Data and AI Marketplace Delivery will support the development of a defensible business capability investment plan which aligns the line of business’ data and AI needs, the enterprise data and AI strategy and the overall corporate plan.



The Director, Data and AI Marketplace Delivery is accountable for the following key services: adhering to enterprise data and AI Governance programs, supporting and leading the marketplace delivery teams with data and AI, developing technology strategies, annual and quarterly roadmaps for the various line of business data and AI needs. and acting as Data and AI Marketplace Delivery centers of excellence (COE).



Job Duties

The Director, Data and AI Marketplace Delivery will report directly to the Vice President Data, Analytics and AI and will be required to:

Own the end to end delivery of advanced analytics and AI use cases

  • Support the various stakeholders across the enterprise in the development and refinement of their business data and AI capabilities through combining people, processes, and technology, to support the stakeholder

Support Hydro One Delivery Teams

  • Lead the scoping, delivery, and measurement of analytics and AI use cases across lines of business (e.g., asset management, field operations, customer, regulatory, IT, and grid planning).
  • Support delivery teams on the development of solutions and guidance, and provide subject matter experts that support delivery teams to improve the quality of solutions and alignment with the governance objectives.
  • Translate business problems into actionable delivery roadmaps with business value, defined KPIs, milestones, and solution architecture.
  • Manage cross-functional squads of analysts, data engineers, data scientists, and solution architects.

Develop technology strategies, roadmaps and the end-to-end delivery of the data and AI use cases.

  • Support the management and scalability of the internal Data & AI Marketplace - a central inventory of AI models, dashboards, APIs, datasets, and insights.
  • Establish guidance and best practices for reusable components, productization of insights, and self-service consumption of advanced analytics, AI and GenAI by all business users.

Data and AI Marketplace Delivery Centers of Excellence (COE)

  • Act as the primary engagement lead with line-of-business executives and senior stakeholders.
  • Work with domain leads to prioritize high-impact use cases that support Hydro One’ s investment plans, operational targets, and regulatory mandates
  • Communicate technical and delivery progress in clear business terms to executive leadership, board, and oversight committees Provide COE’ s Data and AI Marketplace Delivery services across the enterprise to delivery teams and stakeholders in order that they can leverage technology easily to achieve the desired outcomes:
  • Define and lead agile delivery practices tailored to data and AI use case delivery, including completing intake gating, delivery sprints, quality assurance, and post-deployment impact tracking.
  • Ensure use cases are delivered on time, within scope, and in alignment with platform capabilities, governance standards, and enterprise architecture.
  • Establish metrics and dashboards to track delivery throughput, reusability, and business values.
  • Create business value through delivery of data and AI use cases for our customers both internal and external.
  • Create a culture and maintain a work environment where all can be fully engaged.

Interface with senior management of Hydro One as required to ensure requirements are met with respect to:

  • Managing/enacting Strategic data and AI imperatives
  • Setting and driving the innovative data and AI agenda
  • Driving data to insights with tools and analytics
  • Providing guidance and expertise in the use of AI and GenAI technologies
  • Execution of approved annual data and AI marketplace delivery roadmaps for the various lines of business
  • Ensuring that existing data and AI assets are identified, adhering to the enterprise data and AI strategy and these data and AI assets are leveraged across the enterprise to minimize redundancy and total cost ownership.
  • Ensuring that the data and AI marketplace delivery use cases align to the enterprise data and AI platforms
  • Ensuring a focus on data quality that can be trusted by supporting/development and publication of enterprise data products -Constructing, refine and maintain enterprise data models, as needed, to meet business requirements
  • Develop in partnership with the Director Data and AI Platform a strategy in support of enterprise reuse and data-sharing objectives
  • Facilitating consistent business analysis, information acquisition analysis and design, data access analysis and design, archiving and recovery strategies, security, and change management at the enterprise level
  • Validating audit objectives and assist with creation of audit plans to ensure continued data integrity and transparency
  • Reviewing audit reports to ensure findings and recommendations are acted on for the data and AI marketplace use cases delivered by the enterprise data and AI team
  • Coordinating new development activities and ensure they are consistent and well integrated with the established enterprise information architecture, using metadata management and/or a repository to promote reuse and standards adoption
  • Assisting in post-implementation continuous-improvement efforts to enhance performance and provide increased functionality
  • Participating in key project design reviews as part of the methodology process to ensure application designs adhere to enterprise information architecture guidelines

Support the Data and AI Marketplace Delivery management of the various Hydro One Line of Business needs ensuring communicated needs are balance against resource capacities and agreed to prioritizations.

Assist in providing the necessary business leadership to oversee the review of all completed Data and AI Marketplace Delivery projects to Business Case identified deliverables, including anticipated "Value Return".

  • Partner with the Data and AI Platform teams to operationalize models into production environments and APIs.
  • Work with the Data and AI Platform teams to ensure scalable access to high-quality, classified, and lineage-tracked datasets.
  • Coordinate with all DTS technology partners (SAP, ServiceNow, and Microsoft, etc.) to ensure seamless integration into operational systems and processes.
  • Co-lead federated delivery operating models with domain data owners.
  • Build and lead a multi-disciplinary team of delivery leads, product managers, analysts, and data/AI practitioners.
  • Coach teams on business storytelling, design thinking, and delivering actionable insights to frontline and executive users.
  • Foster a culture of trust, agility, shared success, and continuous improvement.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Master's degree in computer science, artificial intelligence, information systems or a related study, or equivalent related project experience -In-depth Data and AI Marketplace Delivery knowledge/experience - 15 years of experience in IT and/or data and artificial intelligence (AI) with a preference of 10+ years using data for AI, GenAI and advanced analytics delivery experience in a senior leadership role.
  • Strong background in data science and advanced research practices in utilizing AI and GenAI for responsible use.
  • Data/information modeling expertise at the enterprise level -Strong understanding of common data and AI architecture frameworks, demonstrated use of these Data and AI Platforms as a key stakeholder
  • Understanding of differences between relational modeling and object modeling
  • Knowledge of problem analysis, structured analysis, and design and programming techniques
  • Strong experience working in enterprise Data and AI Platforms
  • Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology and apply it to business needs -Ability to establish and maintain a high level of customer trust and confidence in data and AI delivery
  • Strong analytical and conceptual (AI and GenAI) skills; ability to create original concepts/theories for a variety of stakeholders
  • Ability to analyze project, program and portfolio needs, as well as determine resources needed to meet objectives and solve problems that involve remote and elusive symptoms, often spanning multiple environments in a business area.
  • Knowledge of project planning and management, including scope, time and resource management to scale delivery.
  • Experience with various modeling techniques (such as data flow diagrams, entity-relationship diagrams or create/read/update/delete matrices).
  • Strong familiarity with business intelligence and data warehousing development techniques.
  • High-level understanding of relational database management systems and other data structures.
  • Experience with process redesign methods (such as business process re-engineering, Six Sigma or total quality management) and AI tools.
  • Knowledgeable various aspects of designing and constructing business processes, functions and organizational structures.
