NOTICE OF VACANCY
POSITION: SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST - Adult
Primary site: Alliance Wide
Temporary Full-Time (Covering a projected 18 Month Parental Leave)
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Speech-Language Pathologist is concerned with communication, cognitive or swallowing disorders of
adults; and often works as part of a team with other professionals to provide consultative and direct
treatment services to the inpatient and outpatient populations. The Speech-Language Pathologist is
responsible for counselling of clients and families, as well as for appropriate referrals to other professionals
or services.
REPORTS TO: Manager, Therapies & Professional Practice
DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible
SALARY: $44.67 to $57.90 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Master’s Degree or equivalent in Speech-Language Pathology
- A member of good standing of the College of Audiologists and Speech and Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
EXPERIENCE:
- Clinical expertise and experience in stroke rehabilitation and demonstrated knowledge of current stroke rehabilitation best practices including management of dysphagia.
- Experience in both clinical and video fluoroscopic assessment of swallowing
- Experience with inpatient service delivery is an asset.
- Experience with critical care patients is an asset.
ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated ability to practice effectively in an interprofessional collaborative environment.
- Working knowledge of and experience with theories and principles guiding adult learning and patient self-management approaches.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational, time management, problem-solving and innovation skills.
- Proven flexibility and a high level of initiative.
- Evidence of continued professional growth and/or professional development
- Appreciation of resource utilization.
- Computer skills, particularly Meditech, MS Office, and/or other software
- A valid Ontario driver’s license
