NOTICE OF VACANCY
POSITION:Orthopaedic Technician/Porter
Primary site: Stratford
Casual
(Shifts: 8-hour shifts, days and evenings, 7 day/week coverage, may be subject to change)
POSITION SUMMARY: The Orthopaedic Technician/Porter is a member of the peri-operative team and is responsible and accountable for assisting orthopaedic surgeons, other physicians and hospital staff in the Operating Suite and the Emergency Department; and for various housekeeping and portering duties, and maintenance of supplies and equipment in an aseptic environment.
REPORTS TO: Manager, Surgical Services
DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible
SALARY: Porter - $26.62 to $28.20 per hour
Orthopaedic Technician-$35.69 to $37.88 per hour
Successful incumbent will receive rate of pay in accordance with classification being performed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum Grade 12 education
- Completion of an Orthopaedic Technician training program from a hospital/community college
- Member of the Canadian Society of Orthopaedic Technologists (preferred)
- Aseptic Technique
- BLS Certificate
- First Aid Course
EXPERIENCE:
- One (1) year recent experience in an Orthopaedic Technician Position
ABILITIES:
- Mature, self-directed, with excellent communication skills
- Ability to work with people and other members of the health care team
- Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize responsibilities
- Evidence of commitment to continuing education and development
