POSITION:HEALTH RECORDS PRACTITIONER, CODING
Primary Sites: Alliance Wide (Hybrid)
Temporary Part-Time
(Shifts: Monday to Friday, 8-hour days, may be subject to change)
POSITION SUMMARY: Health Records Practitioner, Coding are responsible for the accurate and timely coding and abstracting of inpatient, day surgery, Emergency Room and specialty clinic visits.
REPORTS TO: Manager, Patient Registration and Health Information
DATE REQUIRED: As soon as possible
SALARY: $31.08 to $32.98 per hour
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Graduate of a Canadian College of Health Information Management (CCHIM) Program.
- Certification in Health Information Management (CHIM).
- Active and in good standing CHIMA membership
- Classification and Coding Specialist Certification an asset
EXPERIENCE:
- Minimum one year coding/abstracting inpatient, day surgery, Emergency Room and clinic visits using ICD-
10/CCI
- Meditech experience preferred
ABILITIES:
- Excellent understanding of CIHI coding standards and other relevant resources.
- Excellent computer skills.
- To work independently and is self-directed.
- Organize and prioritize workload to ensure deadlines are met.
- Demonstrates initiative, good judgment and identifying opportunities for action.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understands customer service and their needs.
- Work with other members of the healthcare team and external agencies.
- Is flexible and adaptable.
- Maintains confidentiality and understands privacy.
- Understands data quality issues
