Join our Environmental Services team as we work together to create a cleaner, safe work environment and patient care setting for our facility.

 

We are currently seeking a Supervisor to join our Support Services team at the Church Reactivation Care Centre facility.  

The Supervisor of Support Services is responsible for aspects of Support Services that may include Housekeeping, Portering, or Laundry and Linen  across the hospital. This includes ensuring compliance with safety standards, managing financial and human resources, executing operational plans, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and service delivery.

 

 

Employment Status: Casual Hours of Work: Must be available for all rotating shifts, including weekends

Location: Church Site  - with ability to travel across sites as required Labour Group: Non UnionReporting Relationship: Manager, Support Services

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Oversees day-to-day operations that may include cleaning standards, infection control compliance, waste disposal, patient transport and departmental scheduling.
  • Develops and implements department policies and procedures.
  • Supervises unionized and non-union staff, including hiring, performance reviews, progressive discipline, training, and staff development.
  • Facilitates return-to-work programs and leads team meetings.
  • Assist in staff scheduling to include a mix of staff based on a variety of skills, experience, and other factors
  • Strengthens teamwork within the support services team and ensuring competency of Support Services staff
  • Strengthens teamwork and coordination between Command Centre staff and inpatient units throughout the hospital as they relate to patient placement, bed prioritization, and throughput
  • Monitors quality assurance programs, participates in audits, investigates service complaints, enforces safety procedures, and ensures compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.
  • Performing job duties in accordance with mission, vision and values of Humber River Health
  • Maintaining all relevant standards

Qualifications:

  • College Diploma or undergraduate degree in Health Administration, Environmental Services, or related field required
  • Certification in Healthcare Environmental Services (e.g., CHESP) preferred
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a healthcare environmental services leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of infection prevention/control standards
  • Proven leadership in unionized environments
  • Budgeting and resource planning experience
  • Familiarity with quality improvement processes and tools
  • Excellent attendance and discipline free record required
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving and organizational skills
