Right now we’re looking for Four (4)  Registered Practical Nurses to work in our Mother and Baby Unit.

 

Employment Status: Full-time Reporting Relationship: Manager, Mother and Baby Unit and Obstetrical ClinicsHourly Rate: $36.929 - $37.466Union Group:  NOWUHours of work: Rotating shifts 12 hours, days/evenings/nights/weekends

Location: Humber River Health - Wilson Site

Position Responsibilities:

  • Registered Practical Nursing duties as outlined by the College of Ontario Nurses.
  • Safe nursing practice in all aspects of the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care
  • Professional, patient-centred care to ensure patient safety and physiological and psychological well-being
  • Providing care in a compassionate and caring manner within a diverse cultural environment.
  • Responding to emergency situations by recognizing changes in patient's health status and consulting appropriately when necessary using transfer of accountability principles
  • Providing health teaching to patients and families including thorough discharge instructions to ensure the continuity of care in the community.

Qualifications

  • Graduate from a recognized Registered Practical Nursing two year diploma program.
  • Current RPN registration, and in good standing, with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Recent experience within the last five years, with a minimum of two years postpartum experience in Canadian hospital required
  • Current BCLS certification required
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program certificate or proof of enrollment before probationary date of hired required
  • Completion of Registered Nurses Association of Ontario breastfeeding e-learning course required or completion within 3 months of hire
  • Obstetrics Nursing certificate is an asset 
  • Perinatal Bereavement knowledge and PAIL Network workshop
  • Excellent organizational skills with an ability to set priorities.
  • Demonstrate adherence to the hospital’s code of conduct.
  • Demonstrate competency in a variety of skills including (but not limited to), intramuscular injections, Newborn blood collection , Blood Transfusion, Medication Administration, etc.
  • Basic computer skills and Meditech experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Proven attendance record. Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.

  • Ability to prioritize patient care needs and make autonomous decisions
  • Excellent physical assessment skills required
  • Ability to promote a healthy work environment and practice excellent client safety guidelines
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act
  • Must demonstrate HRH Values of Respect, Excellence, Service, Compassion, Innovation and Collaboration
  • Knowledge and understanding of information systems and technology
