We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Practice Leader to join our Operating Room Department in the Surgical Program!
Employment Status: Permanent Full Time
Hours of Work: Day shifts from Monday to Friday (some evening and weekend hours may be required based on operational needs) - subject to change as per Management Rights
Location: Humber River Health, Wilson Site
Employee Group: Management
Reporting Relationship: Program Director, Perioperative Services
Responsibilities:
- Consultation with the Program Director, Manager and staff regarding program needs
- Modeling clinical skills excellence and assesses clinical practice in the Operating room
- Promoting the development of interdisciplinary teams
- Needs assessment and provides leadership in program development and evaluation
- Providing orientation and advanced education for the Surgical Perioperative Program
- Developing continuing education programs to keep staff updated with new practices, skills and certifications
- Facilitating development of multidisciplinary standards of patient care
- Collecting, analyzing statistical activities and implementing appropriate interventions on clinical areas
- Acts as a change agent and a nursing professional practice resource to the perioperative services area
- Leads and participates in program continuous quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
Requirements:
- Current registration and membership in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
- Master’s Degree in Nursing, Health Administration, Business Administration and/or MSc in Nursing required. Candidates who are actively pursuing their Master’s will be considered
- Perio-Operative Nursing Certification is preferred (CPN-C)
- BCLS and ACLS certification required.
- At least 5 years of recent experience in surgery
- Experience in adult education principles that address facets of learning needs assessment
- The ability to design, deliver and evaluate educational programs
- A minimum of three years in an adult educator role
- Excellent verbal, written, and computer skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Computer programs
- Knowledge of Principles of Adult Education
- Excellent attendance and discipline free record required.
