Job Summary

The NDT level III position is primarily accountable for ensuring that all aluminum cast products are NDT inspected in accordance with customer specifications and within corporate and aerospace quality standard. The level III position has technical responsibility and authority for Penetrant Testing and Radiography Testing including the certification of all qualified NDT personnel (Level I and II) for our operations in Laval and Georgetown.

Tasks include

  • Ensuring that all cast products are NDT inspected in accordance with customer’s requirements and corporate quality standards.
  • Ensuring all NDT personnel execute work instructions and activities to full compliance
  • Ensuring that NDT personnel has the correct material, tools, and equipment to effectively accomplish their work activities and schedules.
  • Verifying that all NDT tools and equipment are calibrated and approved for on-going production use
  • Acting as lead process owner for NDT operations for implementation and correction of NDT procedures and methods.
  • Identifying poor quality production issues and initiates corrective actions (internal and external activities).
  • Encouraging NDT personnel feedback on all NDT production issues which create improvement opportunities regarding product flow, throughput, and quality.
  • Providing guidance with NDT personnel on job specific tasks required.
  • In accordance with NAS-410, ensuring that all NDT personnel receive appropriate training and examinations, and acquire adequate experience to successfully be certified and able do their work.
  • Acting as NDT technical liaison with customers and corporate.
  • Stimulating a continuous improvement environment. Influencing employees to voluntarily contribute to improvement efforts to provide their internal customer with cast product or NDT processes/methods that adequately meet external customer requirements and specifications.
  • Actively participating in problem solving, cost reduction, and waste reduction.
  • Ensuring that all equipment and materials used meet customer requirements and corporate quality standards and expectations. Conducts numerous audits (internal and external) to ensure that customer specifications are met.
  • Auditing and surveying on-going NDT production operations, processes, and personnel for adequacy and compliancy within production scheduling constraints and quality standards
  • Auditing the performance of Level I’s and Level II’s and takes part in the preparation and execution of their reviews
Qualifications
  • High School or equivalent can be accepted
  • Level 2 with 5 years or more and or Level 3.
  • Level III Can / CGSB-48.9712 Radiographic Interpretation.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in NDT methods and manufacturing environment.
  • Aluminum casting experience will be an asset
  • Must be capable of accurate interpretation of gauge and/or scale readings
  • Must possess good mathematical skills including fractions/decimals
  • Good understanding of origin of metallurgical defects
  • Good interpretation of defects on castings
  • Knowledgeable of NDT equipment
  • Self-motivated
  • Well-organized
  • Tolerance to stress
  • Ability to maintain constant attention during critical steps of the individuals job requirements
  • Must exercise very good judgment
  • Must possess a good degree of manual dexterity

  • Must be bilingual (English and French)
