CAREER PRACTITIONER - Division Schools

We are looking to hire a continuous 35.0 hour per week Career Practitioner to serve all Holy Spirit High Schools. This assignment is to commence as soon as possible. This is a 12 month position and is covered by the CUPE 1825 collective agreement. Please quote Posting #3745297.

The successful candidate will support the Off Campus Coordinator (OCC) for the High Schools in the Division. Under the direction and supervision of the OCC, the candidate will perform support and become familiar with the knowledge required for the delivery of the Off-Campus Programs. The successful candidate will support the OCC in tracking student registration, placements, course completion, reporting and credit allocation. The duties include but are not limited to: word processing, spreadsheets, creating a welcoming environment for students, operating standard school equipment and assisting and organizing school events and activities. In conjunction with the OCC, the successful candidate will work to match students with learning opportunities including internships, work experience placements, the Registered Apprenticeship Program, dual credit courses and other experiences to enhance a student’s high school program. The successful candidate will occasionally be planning and delivering presentations to students and parents, under the direction of the OCC.

EDUCATION :

Completion of a High School diploma and a two-year post-secondary diploma in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The following certificate or diplomas are preferred:

Career Development Certificate;

Career Practitioner Diploma;

Administrative Assistant Diploma.

WORK EXPERIENCE:

Experience working with youth from the ages of 14-19 in career development would be an advantage.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS :

Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

Strong organizational skills;

Problem solving and creativity skills;

Knowledgeable in the area of career development;

Strong work ethics and the ability to remain objective;

Ability to establish and maintain relationships with youth;

Have a strong willingness to learn;

Understand that it is of paramount importance to maintain confidentiality of all aspects of the school community;

An understanding of all components of the Off-Campus program, PowerSchool, and Alberta High School graduation requirements is considered an asset.
