Job Description: We are looking for a compassionate, caring, non-judgmental, role model who lives a healthy lifestyle and is familiar with the Woodland Cree Culture and practices, The Youth Support Supervisor is responsible for increasing awareness and understanding of issues among First Nations youth and be the liaison to youth and the services provided by LLRIB. The Youth Support Supervisor shall supervise Youth Support Workers for all LLRIB communities and shall report to the Cultural Program Manager.

Prepare statistical & monthly reports; provide coaching and mentoring for staff within the unit, ongoing field orientation of staff; ensure teamwork is being implemented; coordinate and chair program meetings; increase awareness and understanding of issues among First Nations youth; participate in development a youth planning in each community with a goal of inspiring youth to live a healthy lifestyle; Supervise Youth Workers team; other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or designate.

The facility is located at the Silver Cultural Building, on Morins Hill.

Key responsibilities:

  • Ensures the effective day to day management of the Youth Support Staff;
  • Develop schedules & assign tasks as appropriate in each community area;
  • Track & ensures follow-through on youth activities as outlined on community schedules;
  • Ensures annual work plans are developed & implemented in accordance with parameters set by the approved funding proposal;
  • Building a productive cooperative work climate within the team, the organization & with other community agencies;
  • Participates in the La Ronge Indian Band Health Services Operational Planning;
  • Participate as a member of the Cultural Program team to discuss delivery, organizational structure, fiscal control, human resources & optimal staff development.

Experience:

  • 2 years experience
  • Experience working with First Nations communities is an asset
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered

Education

  • Certificate in Social Work or health related field

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Experience in facilitating groups, public speaking, presentations, and writing reports
  • Ability to work independent as well as a member of a team

Other Information

  • A current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Screening and
    Driver’s Abstract is required upon hire. Since this position is engaged primarily in serving
    the interests of First Nations people, Lac La Ronge Indian Band shall give preference to
    First Nations people who possess the requisite skill sets and experience.
