Job Description: Under the direction of the program area manager, as applicable, and as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Social Worker BSW provides a range of screening, triage, assessment, treatment and case coordination services to a primarily adult community mental health and addiction population.

  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)

Experience

  • One year (postgraduate) recognized experience in working within community mental health and addiction services.

  • Computer skills

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Knowledge in addiction issues and mental health disorders
  • Knowledge of best practices in harm reduction strategies
  • Knowledge of community resources including treatment programs & support agencies
  • Exp. in mental health & addictions community outreach & crisis interventions
  • Knowledge in various intervention strategies for individuals and groups
  • Ability to enter and retrieve data in computer database systems
  • Ability to provide public presentation and professional training
  • Ability to prepare reports in a clear, concise and timely manner.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills
  • Public relation skills with the ability to maintain effective work relationships
  • Knowledge and practical application of the Mental Health Services Act and Health Information Protection Act and other legislation
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting.
  • Able to work independently in a self-motivated manner & respond under pressure
  • Knowledge of Recovery Philosophy
  • Cultural competency and can work effectively in multicultural environment
  • Ability to identify, implement & evaluate areas of client difficulty
  • Ability to formulate evidence-based intervention.

  • Knowledge in various mental health and addiction and harm reduction strategies
  • Knowledge in various intervention strategies for individuals and groups

Other information

  • Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW)
  • Some assignments may require access to a vehicle for work.
  • Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement
