Job Description: In accordance with the vision, mission and values of the Saskatchewan Health Authority, the policies and procedure relating to Mental health and Addictions Services, the Social Worker - BSW is responsible for the provision of community based mental health counselling services to the clients within the Mental Health Adult and/or Child and the Youth Mental Health Programs. This position is also accountable to the provision of public education, mental health promotion, consultation and advocacy aimed at supporting individuals wishing to improve their quality of health. The Social Worker - BSW reports to the Director for the administrative supervision and to the Clinical Supervisor for Adult and/or Child and Youth Mental Health Program for clinical supervision.

Experience

  • Experience in providing counselling/treatment services

Education

  • Baccalaureate of Social Work degree

Licenses

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license

Memberships

  • Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW)

  • Advanced - Computer skills

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Sound clinical judgement skills.
  • Ability to communicate in a cross-cultural setting
  • Knowledge in family violence, trauma, loss and grief, addiction, and poverty
  • Knowledge and skill in mental health intervention methodologies.
  • Knowledge in child and youth treatment programming
  • "Ability to work independently to plan and prioritize workload demands. "
  • Knowledge of social determinants of health affecting vulnerable populations
  • Knowledge in human development and family dynamics
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to speak Cree is an asset
  • Ability to travel on remote roads or fly in small aircraft to remote communities
