Job Summary
Under the direction of the Primary Health Care Manager, the Respiratory Therapist is responsible for general and specialized respiratory care in the assigned areas, as well as assisting with special projects and maintaining respiratory therapy equipment. The incumbent will promote the delivery of patient centred care through the application of professional standards. The position will have specific responsibilities related to patient needs and clinical knowledge.
Education
- Graduate of an education program approved by the Saskatchewan College of Respiratory Therapists (SCRT) at a Respiratory Therapy school accredited by the Council on Accreditation for Respiratory Therapy Education in Canada, or a program deemed equivalent by the SCRT.
- Successful completion of a Respiratory Therapist registration examination administered by the Canadian Board for Respiratory Care, or an examination deemed equivalent by the SCRT.
- A registered member in good standing with the SCRT in accordance with the SCRT regulatory by-laws.
- Certification in BCLS.
- Certified Respiratory Educator preferred.
Experience
- One year of previous related clinical experience.
- Preference will be given to applicants with previous experience in a community setting.
- Experience in adult education an asset.

- Demonstrated knowledge, experience and/or training in all aspects of the position duties.
- Proven communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well with others, as well as independently under pressure or in emergency situations.
- Demonstrated judgement skills, capable of taking initiative and flexible attitude.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary environment.
- Demonstrated ability to accept and implement change.
Other Information
- This is a community based position providing services in clinic and home settings. Travel required to various community sites within the Primary Health Care Networks (Regina). Home base for this position is: 2110 Hamilton Street but incumbent may be assigned to any of the PHC network locations
- Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle for work purposes.
- Ability to travel throughout the health region.
- May require up to 3 months orientation and training.
- Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement. HSAS seniority within the Saskatchewan Health Authority will be considered under the Selection Criteria.
