Job Description

The HIV Nurse Clinician is an expert clinical nurse in the study of Infectious Disease and specifically the study, assessment and treatment of HIV and AIDS. The HIV Nurse Clinician integrates experience and advanced level skills in the provision of direct patient care. The HIV Nurse Clinician requires skill in collaborative multidisciplinary consultation particularly with the Infectious Diseases Specialists, the case manager and the broader outreach team. The position will ensure seamless coordination of clinical planning, treatment protocols, therapeutic activities and client interventions. As a member of the Access Place Care Team the HIV Nurse Clinician reports to the Nursing Unit Manager of Access Place.

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing or Bachelor Degree in Psychiatric Nursing
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS)

Experience
-Minimum 5 years direct nursing experience in primary care, public/community health nursing -Minimum 5 years direct nursing experience with HIV or related experience in sexually transmitted infections or blood borne pathogens in a clinical or community setting. -Minimum 5 years� experience working with clients engaged in at risk behavior and marginalized populations. -Direct experience in clinical or case management care related to HIV/AIDS

  • Knowledge of current trends, issues and perspectives, of nursing in the specific clinical area
  • Knowledge of HIV
  • Knowledge of population health promotion concepts and strategies
  • Understanding of HIPAA and other regulatory requirements that could affect or be affected by automation

Prince Albert is the 3rd largest city in Saskatchewan with a population of 39,737.
