Job Description: Within a multidisciplinary team  provide professional psychological services. Provide comprehensive cognitive/developmental assessment to a wide range of clientele with disabilities inclusive of individuals suspected of having FASD, Autism or other complex developmental problems and to provide recommendations for follow-up and/or care.  Provide assessment and diagnosis (or support to physician’s making diagnoses where applicable) for children and youth.

Education

  • Doctorate in Psychology.
  • A minimum of one year clinical experience in a child/adolescent mental health service setting or in an adult mental health setting.
  • Experience with forensic, developmental and neuro-cognitive psychology.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of normal child and adolescent development and psychopathology.  Knowledge of cognitive disability models with regard to mental health diagnoses from childhood to early adulthood.  Knowledge of interventions empirically validated or supported by best-practices literature.  Knowledge of forensic issues in relation to cognitive dysfunction and mental health diagnoses.
  • Knowledge of FASD and the 4-point code diagnostic system.
  • Significant experience in providing assessment and diagnoses in a mental health setting.
  • Knowledge of assessment and treatment techniques appropriate to an aboriginal/multicultural population.
  • Knowledge of community agency services to the cognitively disabled.
  • Knowledge of and experience utilizing standardized psychometric instruments and neuro-cognitive screening tools and a wide range of measures typically used with children, youth and young adults.
  • Knowledge of the Mental Health Services Act, Family Services Act, and the Saskatchewan Model of Recovery
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team and independently to manage complex and multiple demands.
  • Ability to design, conduct and evaluate educational and training opportunities related to cognitive disabilities to various targeted audiences.
  • Demonstrated skill in the area of research and resource development.
  • Ability to cope with stress.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel, work evenings/weekends as required and maintain a valid drivers license.

Other Information

  • Registered or eligible for registration as a full practice Psychologist by the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as having Authorized Practice Endorsement with the Saskatchewan College of Psychologists.
  • Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement.  HSAS seniority within the Saskatchewan Health Authority will be considered under the Selection Criteria.
