Job Description

The SMA (www.sma.sk.ca) is a voluntary, member-based, professional association for physicians, medical students and residents in the province and it is the provincial chapter of the Canadian Medical Association. As the trusted voice of Saskatchewan’s 2,600 practicing physicians, the SMA negotiates for and on behalf of our doctors; supports the educational, professional, economic and personal well-being of physicians; and advocates for a high-quality and patient-centred, health-care system.

Reporting to the Director, Physician Wellness & Support Programs, the Physician Advocate, Workplace Wellbeing brings a physician perspective to the many areas of physician life and practice that are within the purview of the SMA. This position works collaboratively with staff, members, and other health system stakeholders to advance physician wellbeing and improve and strengthen the experience of medical practice in Saskatchewan. Understanding the impact of the workplace on physicians’ wellbeing and advocating for system change is an integral focus of this position. This position will lead initiatives that promote a healthy workplace including bylaws and rules that impact physicians in the workplace, professional interactions with interdisciplinary teams, application of EDI principles, wellness initiatives and an appreciation of the unique proposition physicians bring to the healthcare system.

There is a half-time position (18.75 hours/week) located in Regina, SK.
