Job Description: Reporting to the Manager for direction in day-to-day duties, the Physical Therapist-Degree-Senior directs, supervises and promotes the activities of the clinical service area of specialization within the physiotherapy service to ensure that patients referred to that service receive high qualify physiotherapy and that students assigned to that unit receive clinical education of high standard. In conjunction with the Manager, the incumbent will design, direct, organize and operate exercise programs for chronic disease management clients, The role also includes clinical responsibilities in direct client care (clinical caseloads and direct client care responsibilities) and supervisory duties for clients and staff. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining ongoing professional education.

Experience
- Exp w/ exercise prgms for pts w/ cardio, pulmonary, metabolic & neuro conditions
- 2 yrs exp design/implementing community-based exercise programs for ind/groups
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy
Other Education and Training
- CSEP designation Exercise Physiologist (CSEP-CEP)
- Certification with the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) is acceptable
- Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
Knowledge and Abilities
- Ability to ensure a safe, healthy environment for clients and staff
- Knowledge of falls risk factors and best practice for falls prevention
- Knowledge in various diagnostic for cardiopulmonary disease and/or diabetes
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing workload
- Knowledge of exercise and telemetry equipment
- Knowledge of behavior modification techniques and risk factor management
- Ability to maintain and update patient medical charts
- Demonstrated high degree of accuracy is required of assigned responsibility
- Ability to assist with client, family/supports and public education
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrates adherence to established standards of care/ SHA Policies/Procedures
- Ability to identify cardiac arrhythmias and ECG abnormalities
- Ability to establish/maintain satisfactory working relationships
- Demonstrated skill in maintaining files and records
- Ability to recognize and maintain confidential information
- Knowledge in various medications and potential effect on activity
- Ability to interview/assess/screen patients at program entry
