Job Description: Reporting to the Manager, The Physical Therapist - Degree - Senior will act as the clinical leader for the Saskatchewan Hip and Knee Pathway and Regina Hip and Knee Treatment and Research Centre. The Physical Therapist - Degree - Senior works collaboratively with orthopedic surgeons in a multi-disciplinary clinic to assist with determining patients who are appropriate for joint replacement. The incumbent will provide support and direction to the physical therapist(s) - degree as necessary, as well as participating in the assessment, treatment, education and evaluation for Orthopedic Patients in an outpatient setting.

The Physical Therapist - Degree - Senior will work closely and collaboratively with the referring Primary Care Practitioner and Orthopedic Surgeons to ensure continuity and high-quality care.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy

Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in assessment and treatment of Orthopedic Patients

 Other Education and Training:

  • Registered or eligible for licensure with the Saskatchewan College of Physical Therapists
  • CPR certification at Level “C” is required
  • Level 2 Certification in Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Physiotherapy or greater is preferred

 Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Knowledge and understanding of the mechanisms of osteoarthritis and evidence-based treatments
  • Demonstrated ability to employ a biopsychosocial approach in the provision of care to the complex patient population
  • Good working knowledge of surgical care as well as public and community resources in the province of Saskatchewan is required
  • Flexible and adaptive approach to treatment of complex orthopedic patients
  • Excellent complex problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize, communicate and coordinate care with other health care team members
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families and all members of the health care team with the ability to integrate ideas into a team treatment approach
  • Ability to work independently and in collaboration with others
  • Coping skills to work with clients dealing with stress, role loss, and other psychological issues
