Job Description: The Nutritionist - Degree - Senior is a registered dietitian working in public health who is responsible for promoting, protecting, and supporting the nutritional health of the population with an emphasis on health promotion and primary prevention of nutrition related diseases. The Nutritionist - Degree - Senior applies skills in the sciences of nutrition and population health promotion to develop improvements in the food and nutrition systems. The incumbent considers health status of populations, the determinants of health and inequities in health to make decisions regarding appropriate health promotion strategies. Strategies include strengthening community action, healthy policy development, creating supportive environments, nutrition education and practice-based research. Using collaborative intersectoral approaches, the incumbent assesses needs, plans, organizes, manages, directs, coordinates and evaluates population health nutrition services. The incumbent often contributes input into the development of healthy public policies to safeguard the health of the population through the provision of safe, adequate and nutritious food (e.g. school food programs, school nutrition policy, food security programs, food labelling). The incumbent contributes to the ongoing nutrition knowledge and development of the public and other professionals. The Nutritionist - Degree - Senior reports to the Nutrition Services Manager or his/her designate.

Experience
- Minimum two (2) years' experience as a Registered Dietitian
Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nutrition (BSc(Nutr))
- Dietetic Internship certificate
