Job Description:

The Primary Health Care Nurse RN (NP) reports to the Director Primary Health Care.  In collaboration with the health team, the primary health nurse will provide primary health services to the community. This includes: health promotion and protection, disease and injury prevention, provision of supportive, instructive, treatment and emergency services; collaboration with and referral to other health care professionals; initiating and participating in community development initiatives and participating in evaluative projects.

Experience

  • Minimum three (3) years’ experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Minimum one (1) year experience in community needs assessment, community development and health promotion.
  • Minimum one (1) year nursing experience in a primary health setting preferred.

Education

  • Certificate in Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or equivalent program (i.e., Registered Nurse - Nurse Practitioner Master’s Program)
  • Level C, Basic Cardiac Life Support
