Job Description:
This position works as part of an interdisciplinary primary health care team. Under the direction of the Clinical Integration Communicable Disease Sexual Health Manager and Supervisor, the Nurse Practitioner will provide primary health services to the community of the Saskatchewan Health Authority. The Nurse Practitioner will be responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care for clients in the community both independently and collaboratively with a physician, depending upon the complexity of client needs. This employee will examine patients for sexually transmitted infections and ensure necessary assessments and treatments are carried out. This includes: health promotion and protection; first line treatment and emergency services; provision of supportive counselling and instruction in management of medical conditions; disease and injury prevention; initiating and conducting community needs assessments and participating in evaluative projects; and collaboration with and referral to other health care professionals and specialists as required.

Education:
- Graduate from an approved School of Nursing.
- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is desired.
- Certification in Primary Care Nurse Practitioner or equivalent program is required.
- Current BCLS and ACLS certification.
- Current certification in ITLS and PALS
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) years experience as a Registered Nurse in primary care, acute or emergency care.
- Minimum of one (1) year experience in community needs assessment, community development and health promotion.
- Previous experience working within a community setting with Aboriginal clients would be an asset.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrates knowledge of community services, programs and resources.
- Knowledge of health promotion and population health principles and concepts.
- Knowledge of current Aboriginal health issues.
- Knowledge of common medical conditions and treatments.

Other Information
- Current registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS).
- Possession of, and ability to maintain current registration as RN(NP) with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
- Possess valid driver’s license. Shared SHA vehicle is provided for work related travel
