Job Description: Ensures nursing services delivered to clients/families is of high quality, meets or exceeds provincial nursing standards, and supports consistent processes and procedures, contributes to continuous quality improvement and good health status/outcomes for clients. Works closely with the Medical Health Officer, Infection Control Staff, Employee Health nursing staff and other health service providers. Accountable for the clinical nursing orientation, on-going consultation and supervision of Public Health Nursing services

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years recent experience as a Public Health Nurse

Education

  • Course credits in community health and public health nursing are required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

  • Variety of computer programs
  • Demonstrates word processing skills using Microsoft Office programs
  • Leadership skills

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge in media communication and social marketing.
  • Assist mgmt. in program planning, implementation & evaluation of program goal
  • Knowledge of HIPA
  • Knowledge of the electronic immunization database called Panorama
  • Leads work standard development
  • Knowledge of the Sask Public Health Act & Communicable Disease Control Regs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to advocate on behalf of clients, caregivers /extended family members.
  • Knowledge of current trends/issues/perspectives of nursing in the clinical area
  • Ability to establish/maintain effective working internal/external relationships
  • Knowledge in immunology and biologicals used for immunizations
  • Knowledge in population and public health concepts
  • Ability and willingness to apply harm reduction concepts to practice
  • Knowledge in applicable best practices and principles
  • Reviews Public Health programs & works with Mgmt to review policies

Other Information

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
  • Scheduled hours of work may be reduced during the rotation stipulated when a statutory holiday is recognized during that period.
