Job Description: The Simulation Program Development Coordinator is a professional healthcare resource accountable for the introduction and ongoing leadership of healthcare simulation within the former RQHR. The Coordinator will lead the ongoing coordination of educational activities for the centre. A creative, hands on, collaborative coordinator will be required to champion this innovative opportunity. Specific accountabilities include, but are not limited to: promote centre opportunities, schedule centre activities, create and assist others with developing educational scenarios, collaborate with former RQHR and academic educators in identifying and supporting learning opportunities, stage and support the centre's mannequins and part task trainers, identify and conduct research in the area of simulation and patient safety and keep abreast of leading technologies and practices for this specialty.

Experience

  • Three (3) years' experience in acute care within the past five (5) years.
  • Requires experience in planning, program design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Experience in teaching adults, facilitation skills, and leading group activities
  • Leadership experience in a health care setting
  • Requires experience in program/resource development related to needs assessment.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

Licenses

  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)

Other Education and Training

  • Master's degree preferred

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Can dev./implement/evaluate educational prog./resources incl. needs assessment
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Standards and application of such
  • Articulates theory and knowledge related to the priniciples of adult education
  • Demonstrates ability in teaching, facilitation and group activities
  • Articulates theory and knowledge related to client centered care

Other Information

  • Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
  • Majority Monday to Friday with the occasional evening and weekend required
  • Experience in experiential learning incl. simulation based training is preferred

  • Previous experience in simulation/training in WISE or Intro to SIM an asset
  • Interest in simulation, adult ed. & a strong aptitude for technology an asset.
  • A strong apptitude for technology/ability to develop scenarios is an asset
  • Strong interpersonal/comm. skills to work w/ variety of healthcare professionals an asset
  • Scheduled hours of work may be reduced during the rotation stipulated when a statutory holiday is recognized during that period.
