Job Description: Under the direction of the Day Surgery 36/4300 unit Manager, the Clinical Nurse Educator is responsible for ensuring all work is in alignment with the organizations missions, goals, values, and strategic plans to promote high quality, safe client care. This is accomplished by assisting in establishing and maintaining best practice; assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating unit orientation, in-servicing and other educational programming; assessing learning needs; acting as a clinical resource; promoting client and family centered care; participating in committee work as assigned; participating in continuous improvement activities; developing and maintaining client and staff resources. The CNE will function as a member of the interprofessional clinical team to promote effective delivery of client care in the SHA. The clinical nurse educator is a self-directed practitioner with strong communication skills who works in collaboration with interdisciplinary members to promote quality client and family centered care and cultural competence. The clinical nurse educator is an experienced practitioner with expert clinical knowledge and skills.The Clinical Nurse educator is an educator, clinical leader, change agent, facilitator, and consultant.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in Day Surgery/Surgical Services
  • expertise in Cardiac monitoring
  • Experience in a clinical leadership role such as charge nurse or equivalent

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)

Licenses

  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
  • Basic Life Support Instructor Certificate (BLS)
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation HCP Certificate (CPR-HCP)

Competencies

  • BLS/CPR-HCP Instructor
  • Cardiac Monitoring Instructor

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Knowledge in leadership strategies
