Job Description: Reporting to the Clinical Manager, Renal Unit the Unit Coordinator is responsible for promoting the Mission, Vision and Values of the Saskatchewan Health Authority in this front line leadership role. The Unit Coordinator facilitates the overall daily functioning of the Renal Unit ensuring a high quality of care for the renal patient. The incumbent collaborates with the interdisciplinary team members and liaises with health professionals and agencies within and external to the SHA to facilitate high quality care for the renal patient.

Experience

  • Minimum of three (3) years recent and extensive full time clinical Nephrology experience.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in program/resource development and evaluation.
  • Minimum of (5) years recent experience as a charge nurse/leadership role within Nephrology is required.
  • Experience in education or a teaching role is desired.

Education

  • Current registration with CRNS and current BCLS certifications.
  • Requires or in progress towards a recognized Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
  • Nephrology certification is desire
  • Graduate of an approved school of nursing

  • Demonstrated initiative, self-direction, and the ability to work independently, effectively and    collaboratively in an integrated multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to accept and implement change.
  • Demonstrates expertise in medical nursing, in-depth knowledge to assess and manage acute and chronically ill patients.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work as a team member and the ability to establish and maintain positive interpersonal/consultative relationships in order to work effectively with staff, physicians, and families.
  • Demonstrates commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Demonstrates self-directed ability to work effectively and cooperatively in an integrated multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Emergency Preparedness and adherence to established standards of care and RQHR Policies and Procedures.
