Job Description: As a member of an interdisciplinary team and under the supervision of Management and Nurse C, the incumbent will be responsible for creating a therapeutic environment, where screening, triage, assessment, treatment can occur for individuals accessing care in an inpatient withdrawal management setting. Responsibilities include full assessment and history for both physical and mental health conditions, full assessment of history and current stage of addiction, medication administration and reconciliation, supporting detox physicians in their practice, connecting clients with community-based care, health teaching, and consultation with community and acute based services as needed. The incumbent will provide nursing leadership and clinical expertise in the development and maintenance of mental health and addiction treatment programs, and ensure nursing practice standards are maintained.

Experience
- 2 years working experience in community mental health and addictions services
Education
- Graduation from an approved school of psychiatric nursing
- Graduate of general nursing supplemented by postgrad training in psych nursing.
Licenses
- Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
Other Education and Training
- Current PART and CPR certification
Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge in holistic addictions treatment model
- To develop & present educational info. for clients,team members & other agencies
- To develop & present workshops and formal education to clients & the community
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary setting.
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Knowledge of Indigenous Culture and traditions
- Knowledge in Developmental Model of Recovery
- Knowledge in Transtheoretical model of change
- To facilitate program development & create strong bonds with addiction providers
- Demonstrated competency in psychiatric mental health assessment
- Knowledge in best practices in addictions and harm reduction strategies
- To treat addiction & withdrawal from opioids in clinic & outreach setting
- Exp. in mental health & addictions community outreach & crisis interventions
- Knowledge related to mental and physical needs of clients using assessment tools
- Knowledge of addictions screening and assessment tools and procedures
- Knowledge of mood altering medications & how clients are affected by these.
- Knowledge of community resources in the addictions field.
