Job description:
Experience
- Clinical expertise in assessment & treatment of major mental health disorders
- Min. 2 years of experience in a Mental Health and Addiction setting is required.
- Community Mental Health and Addiction experienced is preferred.
Education
- Bachelor Degree or Diploma in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing
Other Education and Training
- Current registration w/ Registered Psych. Nursing Assoc. of SK (RPNAS) required
- Current PART and CPR certification
Knowledge and Abilities
- Knowledge of practices in treating substance dependent & mental health patients
- Participate in program dev't, committee work & program eval. process as required
- Demonstrates knowledge of a Holistic Addiction Treatment Model
- Ability to accurately assess addictions and make appropriate referrals
- Knowledge of community resources in the addictions field.
- Knowledge of chemical dependency/co-dependency & its effect on the family unit.
- Team building skills, leadership, assessment and goal planning skills.
- Knowledge of Indigenous Culture and traditions
- "Ability to work independently to plan and prioritize workload demands. "
- Demonstrated competency in psychiatric mental health assessment
- Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
- Excellent knowledge of Nursing process in relation to mental health &addiction
- Knowledge in Transtheoretical model of change
- Demonstrated ability to use sound clinical judgement
- To assess substance dependency/dual diagnosis/co-dependency &make referrals
- To develop & present workshops and formal education to clients & the community
- Mentor to community partners throughout the SHA w/ regards to prof. standards
- Provide clinical supervision amongst the team to ensure safe care
- Knowledge of mood altering medications & how clients are affected by these.
- Knowledge in best practices in addictions and harm reduction strategies
- Knowledge of group dynamics and facilitation skills.

- A provincial program with virtual services provided throughout the province
- Registered with College of Registered Psychiatric Nurses of Sask (CRPNS)
- Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)
- Valid driver's license, where required
