Job Description: The Emergency Medical Technician/Primary Care Paramedic is responsible for responding to emergent and non-emergent calls for service; provides initial assessment, treatment and transport of ill or injured persons at the basic life support level. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

Education

Grade 12 or equivalent.  Emergency Medical Technician/Primary Care Paramedic currently licensed in the Province of Saskatchewan.  Current Health Care Provider(C) with AED certification.

Licenses

  • Current International Trauma Life Support-Basic Certificate (ITLS)
  • Valid Class 4 driver's license and Emergency Vehicle Operations training

Other Education and Training

  • CPR/AED Provider Certification
  • Emergency Vehicle Operations training

Knowledge and Abilities

Physically fit.  Must have a high level of technical skills and knowledge as an Emergency Medical Technician/Primary Care Paramedic; strong client focused interpersonal skills, above average ability to respond and function appropriately during stressful and emergent situations; thorough knowledge of organizational policies and procedures, thorough knowledge of application and operation of all equipment pertinent to the job, and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
