Job Description
Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home Inc. is recruiting a Director of Support Services and Safety. We are an Emmanuel Health long-term care home, located in Regina, Saskatchewan. We operate under a Principles and Services Agreement with the Saskatchewan Health Authority and provide personal and nursing care to 147 residents. Providing them a vibrant community of health, healing and hope is our vision. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director of Support Services and Safety is accountable to maintain high quality food services and ensure a clean, safe, well-maintained and supplied home for our residents and staff. As the Director you will:
- Ensure the delivery of quality, resident-centered support services
- Ensure the continued development of a positive work environment that respects and develops the skills, abilities and strengths of all team members
- Lead your Support Services team (Manager, Dietitian, food, housekeeping, supplies, laundry, caretaking, and maintenance staff)
- Ensure an ongoing culture of safety and continuous improvement
- Ensure staff know and follow safe work practices through education (supported by our onsite educator), auditing and monitoring
- Lead and manage staff using good supervisory, motivating and performance management skills
- Have a strong working knowledge of CUPE and HSAS CBAs
- Oversee purchasing and supplies and ensure respect for quality and budget
- Oversee financial and capital equipment, projects, and resources and participate in capital and budget planning and monitoring
- Work cooperatively with the team in our strategic and operational planning and progression
- Assume assigned responsibilities of other Managers in their absence and participating in shared on-call coverage for the department during non-business hours to respond to urgent needs.

The Individual
The successful applicant must have:
- Graduated from an accredited Food & Nutrition Management Course.
- A minimum of 3 (three) years of experience in a supervisory capacity in health care
- Be an active Member of the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management
Interested individuals should have:
- Excellent team and people skills.
- A demonstrated ability to promote, consider and respect the team and front-line employee engagement
- Management and supervision experience in a unionized environment
- A fundamental respect for diversity (people, roles, training and backgrounds)
- Time management skills and a comfort with managing competing and changing priorities
- Computer fluency and an ease with multiple technologies
- Exceptional organizational skills
- Experience in a long-term care setting will be considered an asset
