Job Description: The Benefits Coordinator has a primary leadership responsibility and full accountability of the disability income plan. Work includes, processing of benefit applications, utilization of payroll related databases, maintenance of personnel files, administering of Waiver of Premium applications, maintaining a database of employees on disability, secretarial support, receptionist duties, statistical collection. The relief support duties when covering for the Benefit Coordinator -RTW  include: assisting coordination and direction of workflow for Return to Work Services such as assisting with intake of internal and external correspondence. This position provides support to the Manager of Return to Work Services and Return to Work Consultants and other identified departments within the PSP portfolio.  This level requires extensive independent decision-making within established rules, policies, and procedures.

Experience:

  • Experience in benefits administration related to processing of claims
  • Experience in an automated office environment

Education:

  • Completion of a 1-2 year post secondary course in Business/Finance or Administrative field

Other Education & Training: 

  • Equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Knowledge of benefit programs
  • A proven ability to tactfully deal with all levels of staff, union representatives, and external contacts during difficult or delicate situations

  • Ability to demonstrate appropriate level of professional conduct and judgement
  • Excellent proficiency in editing material for clarity, accuracy and conciseness
