Job Description: Reporting to the Manager, the Autism Spectrum Disorder Consultant will work with children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or suspected ASD aged 0 to 19 years of age. The ASD Consultant on the Provincial ASD Strategy Team will coordinate and run virtual groups and consultation services for families and children with ASD across Saskatchewan. The ASD Consultant will develop, oversee and lead the provincial ASD education platform, including an evaluation framework. The ASD consultant will be a resource to facilitate the development of individualized program plans and monitoring progress; facilitating and enhancing coordination or integration of services; consulting and problem-solving with parents, professionals, educators and service providers; provision of supervision to ASD team members and; facilitating, coordinating and enhancing treatment and programming for children and youth with ASD

Education:

  • Post baccalaureate (Masters) degree in relevant health science field (Occupational Therapy, Speech Language Pathology, Psychology)

Experience:

  • A minimum of two years’ experience working with the ASD population.

License:

Valid Class 5 driver's license

Knowledge and Abilities:

 
 
  • Skill in developing appropriate case plans & intervention strategies for clients
  • Knowledge of cross cultural issues and cultural sensitivity
  • Ability to complete case management assessments, follow-up and treatment
  • "Ability to work independently to plan and prioritize workload demands. 
  • Ability to work in a computerized environment
  • Effective interpersonal relationship skills
  • Knowledge of human development relating to Autism Spectrum Disorder  
  • Demonstrates adherence to established standards of care/ SHA Policies/Procedures

Other Education and training:

  • Training in Autism Spectrum Disorder and treatment
  • Training in Applied Behavioral Analysis 
  • Hanen training is preferred
