Job Description: Reporting to the Manager, the Addictions Counsellor Diploma is accountable for providing Adult Addictions Counselling which may include any of the following: screening, assessment and referral, individual counselling and brief support, education presentations, multidisciplinary team and community collaboration. The Addictions Counsellor Diploma will provide services consistent with the current Provincial Clinical Addiction Service Model and Saskatchewan Health Authority values and standards of care. "Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement"

- Chemical Dependency diploma
Licenses
- Valid Class 5 driver's license

- Completed social sciences or human services discipline acceptable to employer

- Knowledge of relapse prevention
- Knowledge of family systems
- Ability to deliver services in a culturally sensitive manner

- Knowledge of substance abuse/ disorder issues
- Knowledge of MHAIS
- Knowledge in Transtheoretical model of change
- Knowledge of medication to support substance use disorders
- Knowledge of MHAS and SHA philopsohy and objectives
- knowledge of case management principles
- Ability to integrate knowledge/ implement strategies to support healthly living
- Knowledge of motivational interviewing
- Client-centered screening, assessment and recovery planning with adults/families
- Ability to be self-directed, creative, collaborative and to have sound judgement
- Knowledge of mental health issues
- Knowledge in principles for Alcohol and Drug Misuse Services for Saskatchewan
