Speech Language Pathologist

Position Summary
As a member of the team, the Speech-Language Pathologist will provide identification, assessment, treatment, management, education, and counseling services for an acutely ill adult population. Heavy emphasis is placed on dysphagia management. Patients may require communication and cognitive-communication screening/assessments.
 


Qualifications



Current registration with the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO)
2. Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or equivalent
3. Current knowledge base and experience in the assessment and treatment of adults with neurogenic communication
and swallowing disorders
4. Demonstrated ability to work within an interdisciplinary team setting
5. Demonstrated strength in problem-solving, critical appraisal and decision-making
6. Understanding of and sensitivity to older adults and chronic diseases
7. Effective communication abilities
8. Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional education and advancement of practice
9. Demonstrated understanding of tracheostomy tubes and management of dysphagia
10. Videofluoroscopic swallowing study experience is preferred
11. Fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallowing (FEES) experience is an asset
