Description
The Speech-Language Pathologist collaborates with the multi-disciplinary neonatal follow-up team to screen and assess S-LP domains in infants and children. As a member of the developmental care team for preterm and at-risk term infants, the Speech-Language Pathologist contributes knowledge about speech and language development and the potential speech and language sequelae for this population. The S-LP contributes early identification of communication difficulties to at risk in this population. S-LP responsibilities include consultation regarding: early identification, assessment, monitoring, parent/caregiver education; liaise and referral to treatment centres and community services; development of education materials; provision of knowledge-sharing of best practice and research; participation in research.
1. CASLPO Registration
2. Masters degree in Speech Language Pathology
3. Minimum 5 years relevant pediatric experience
4. Extensive knowledge of preschool speech and language services in Hamilton as well as other community agencies
5. Demonstrated ability to interface with intake services at DPR and Early Words
6. Comprehensive knowledge of communication development, preschool communication disorders and developmental differences
7. Comprehensive knowledge of neuro-developmental and cognitive communication disorder/delay as it relates to preterm and/or high risk infants.
8. Demonstrated computer skills in Outlook and EPIC
9. Demonstrated teamwork skills and the ability to initiate and work independently
10. Willingness to participate in a criminal reference screening process
11. Fluency in French will be considered an asset
