Description
Within Developmental Pediatrics and Rehabilitation, the Social Worker will be an integral member of an interdisciplinary team, providing psychosocial assessments, individual and group intervention, psychoeducation, consultation, and support to clients and families. The Social Worker will also provide advocacy and assistance to families needing access to community and financial resources for children and youth from 0 to 18 years old. Urgent and crisis services may be part of the required supports. As part of a teaching hospital, the Social Worker will also have an opportunity to be involved in supporting and training social work students and other allied health professionals.
1. Master's Degree in Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work
2. A minimum of 3 years recent clinical experience providing individual, group and family therapy for children, youth and families
3. Demonstrated clinical experience in the field of neurodevelopmental disorders and/or rehabilitation and providing individual, group and
family therapy for children and youth
4. Knowledge and demonstrated use of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
5. Expertise in evidence-based, therapeutic modalities for assessment, intervention, and consultation for children and youth with rehabilitation and developmental needs
6. Membership in the Ontario College of Social Work and Social Service Workers
7. Demonstrated ability to work within an interdisciplinary team and ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment
8. Familiarity with community resources and knowledge of referral processes required for accessing resources
9. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing learning and participation in training initiatives
10. Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and problem solve effectively
11. Demonstrated ability to provide education to health care providers, students, and community
12. Familiarity with the Mental Health Act, Consent to Treatment Act, Child and Family Services Act
13. Willingness to participate in a criminal reference screening process
14. Fluency in French will be considered an asset 15. Must be able to obtain a valid Vulnerable Sector Screen (VSS)
