The Secretary will provide clerical support within the Centre for Health Aging. There is a large focus on registering patients and managing the ongoing appointment booking processes within the ambulatory setting. The Secretary also contributes to our data collection systems and coordinates / maintains the health records within the CHA. The Secretary works collaboratively with geriatricians, interdisciplinary team members, medical learners and other secretaries in the Centre. In addition, the Secretary will provide replacement secretarial coverage within the Centre as needed.


Qualifications

1. Medical Secretarial Diploma from a community college, business school or equivalent
2. Medical terminology certificate 1 and 2 or demonstrated equivalent
3. At least 2 years clerical experience in an ambulatory, interdisciplinary clinic setting
4. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills supporting a commitment and respect for patients, families and care providers
5. Demonstrated proficiency of clinical and network systems (EMR, Meditech, IHIS, Community Wide Scheduling, Clinical Connect, Sovera)
6. Demonstrated proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, Internet searches, library searches
7. Demonstrated experience working with databases
8. Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment
9. Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and problem-solver
