In supporting the Clinical Manager and Clinical Leader, the Quality Specialist will identify, design, plan, execute and/or evaluate program initiatives to improve operational and strategic performance with respect to all dimensions of Quality: effectiveness, efficiency, accessibility, patient-centered, equity and safety.  
The Quality Specialist role will not only seek to “raise the bar” by bringing internationally-recognized innovation and increasing sophistication to healthcare improvement at HHS, but they also are responsible for increasing the overall capacity for improvement through the design, delivery and evaluation of education and training opportunities, and through  one-on-one coaching, mentorship and support to program leadership, physicians, and staff engaged in quality improvement initiatives.  
 


Qualifications

• Masters degree preferred  in related field (Business, Health Care, Industrial Engineering, Epidemiology) preferred.
• Expert knowledge and/or advanced certification in process/quality improvement methods and tools (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma).
• Work experience in, or applicable to, hospital settings, and health care and service delivery issues across the continuum of care (e.g., acute, community, long-term care, private practice, planning and policy).
• Experience with (re)designing and optimizing processes, resource utilization, work flow, and patient /customer experience. 
• Experience accessing, synthesizing and leveraging the most current knowledge (research literature, publications) to inform evidence-based decisions and support change and improvement.
• Demonstrated sophisticated use of various data sources (e.g., external benchmarking reports, internal databases, work load measurement, satisfaction surveys, and quality of work-life surveys). 
• Demonstrated ability to identify, collect, analyze, interpret, and realize value-add from data relevant to opportunities, questions and problems at hand.
• Proven skills in statistics and experimental design and a commitment to learning. 
• Demonstrate expertise and ability to train, teach and coach individuals and teams in the application of quality improvement methods and tools.
• Proven project management skills to ensure improvement initiatives are planned and executed according to established time, budget and other resource constraints.
• Proven leadership abilities, effective communication (written and verbal), report writing, business case development, facilitation and coaching skills, and the ability to design and deliver effective presentations. 
• Knowledge of effective change management strategies and proven success as a change agent. 
• Possess excellent interpersonal skills dealing/collaborating with diverse professional stakeholder groups in both “corporate” and local situations.
• Proficiency in use of office support software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, MS  Project, and Access) and in use of statistical software packages (e.g. Minitab, SPSS-PC, Process MA) and process design/improvement software packages (e.g. Simul8, Med Model, Arena, Visio).
