Description
The Physics Assistant will be performing quality assurance tests on radiation therapy and physics equipment., taking corrective action in consultation with supervising physicist. Will also be responsible for maintaining comprehensive records of quality assurance tests, procedures and measurements; performing routine thermoluminescent and other patient dosimetry during radiation therapy, preparing radioactive sources for surgical procedures and performing routine radiation protection tasks such as surveys or wipe tests under the supervision of the Radiation Safety Officer. The incumbent will be assisting physicists and radiation therapists during special radiation therapy procedures and performing other related duties and activities as assigned.
• Honours BSc in Physics or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience in a radiation physics environment an asset
• Demonstrated computer skills and ability to use spreadsheets, word processors, database. Some previous programming experience and experience with mathematical software packages an asset
• Demonstrated mathematical proficiency and excellent analytic skills
• Good verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated interpersonal skills
