Physician Assistant - Cardiac Surgery

The cardiac surgery physician assistant (PA) plays a vital role in the cardiac surgical team, assisting physicians in providing exceptional, quality and safe patient care. The successful candidate will provide direct patient care in the ambulatory setting predominantly, but may also be included in procedural and post-surgical care, as directed by supervising surgeons. The PA's responsibilities may include conducting patient assessment, taking histories, performing physical examinations, initiating investigations, reviewing laboratory results, developing patient care plans, and providing education to patients and families. This successful candidate will have an opportunity to be involved in the current research conducted by the surgical team. This role is for a candidate who is interested in all aspects of cardiac surgery care, as well as who wishes to cultivate their knowledge in research and innovation. The candidate must be eligible to register with the College of  Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. 

1. Graduate of Physician Assistant Program
2. Prior experience in cardiac surgery setting an asset
3. Demonstrated ability to make decisions in times of emergencies
4. Demonstrated ability to work alongside Intensivists, Nurses and other Health Care Professionals
5. Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills
