Description
As a member of the inter-professional pediatric chronic pain team, the Occupational Therapist (OT) will deliver care to children, youth and families in an outpatient tertiary care setting. The OT will promote excellence in pediatric patient and family-centered care through expert clinical practice, education, and consultation. Responsibilities will include: providing OT assessment and treatment as part of an inter-professional team; managing and maintaining an active case load as per program requirements and expectations; working collaboratively with other team members to develop and implement comprehensive individualized care plans for children and adolescents; working with patients and families in developing treatment pathways that best support optimizing function; consultation/liaison to caregivers and community agencies; developing and providing education and training where applicable ; and participating in program development initiatives and quality assurance projects.
1. Current registration in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
2. Experience in a tertiary care pediatric healthcare setting, chronic pain experience preferred.
3. Demonstrated excellent communication skills, problem-solving skills and the ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team
4. Demonstrated caseload management skills and knowledge of community resources and supports
5. Knowledge, skills and abilities in occupational therapy assessment and interventions with pediatric patients and their families
6. Knowledge of community services and children's treatment facilities
7. Knowledge of current evidence-based OT practices for pediatric pain interventions
8. Willingness to engage in clinical research within the interdisciplinary team
9. Demonstrated clinical expertise and specialized knowledge related to pediatric chronic pain preferred
10. Knowledge of pediatric mental health and evidence-based treatments (or a willingness to learn) is preferred
11. Knowledge of, and experience in CBT considered an asset.
