Neurodevelopmental Therapist

Working within the McMaster Children’s Hospital Extensive Needs Service, the Neurodevelopmental Therapist will develop and provide treatment services and supports to children and youth with neurodevelopmental disorders and their caregivers. Treatment services will be designed to meet the specific needs of each child or youth and will be delivered in both individual and group formats. Services may take place in homes, community settings, ambulatory clinics, or acute care environments. The role includes providing direct intervention, as well as collaborating with parents and caregivers to promote consistency and skill development across environments. The Neurodevelopmental Therapist will work as a member of an integrated service delivery team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, implementing structured interventions, supporting assessment and data collection, contributing to program development, and collaborating with internal and external providers. 


Qualifications

•    Undergraduate degree or college diploma with comparable training in a related field (e.g., Psychology, Behavioural Science, Child and Youth Care, Developmental Services) 
•    Training in evidence-based behavioural and developmental intervention models 
•    Two years clinical experience providing services and supports for children and youth with neurodevelopmental needs 
•    Experience providing structured intervention and parent/caregiver education 
•    Experience working as a member of an interdisciplinary team 
•    Personal and professional skills (collaboration, adaptability, equity focus) for work with children and youth, caregivers, and other internal and external partners/providers.  
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills 
•    Experience developing treatment programs 
•    Computer skills and experience with data collection and management 
•    Fluency in French would be an asset 
•    Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Vulnerable Sector Screening (VSS)
