Description
Reporting to the Medical Device Reprocessing Department (MDRD) Manager, the MDRD Trainer/Leader will oversee educational requirements and professional development of the Reprocessing Department at McMaster, Juravinski and at WLMH to ensure that standards of service and safety are met in the most cost effective manner. Follow-up with Preceptors to discuss staff learning needs and update orientation manuals, welcome packages, arrange and provide in-services for staff, meet with sales representatives to identify department educational requirements for instrumentation, loaner equipment and carry out quality audits. Update MDRD Policies and Procedures and attend regular meetings.
2. Completion of a MDRD Sterilization Course, and current Canadian Standards Association Certification.
3. Past experience in a management or Leader role preferred
4. Demonstrated teaching and coaching skills
5. Sound knowledge of surgical instrumentation and equipment
6. Minimum of five years experience in a Reprocessing environment
7. Comprehensive knowledge of the service, systems and equipment used to provide services within the Central Reprocessing Department
8. Demonstrated leadership skills
9. Able to identify and assess the learning needs of staff
10. Excellent interpersonal skills including coaching and mentoring
11. Demonstrated understanding of team development and attributes of a high performing team.
12. Strong process orientation skills
13. Working knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act
14. Experience working in an unionized environment
15. Effective presentation skills
16. Excellent computer skills
17. Commitment to continuous education
18. Solid understanding of clients’ needs and service excellence
19. Demonstrated ability to manage numerous and diverse activities, organizing and prioritizing appropriately to meet demands and expectations
