Description
Manager of Research Compliance and Support Services is responsible for creating a collaborative research environment where Compliance, Quality assurance and EDI are woven in research operations and practice. The position will have two essential portfolios:
1) Research Compliance Framework: To identifying and minimize risks to the patients/research participants and to the institution by developing structure and continuous support to the research community. The incumbent will provide HHS-Research Compliance and Support Services vision across the organization that embeds quality and support into every aspect of the work done at HHSC and will collaborate with all levels of internal and external operations to develop processes and tools which will enable this vision. As the champion of Research Compliance at HHSC, it is the Manager’s responsibility to identify risks associated with research conducted at HHS to incorporate regulatory guidelines and develop, maintain and promote a comprehensive quality and support system composed of policies, procedures, processes and the infrastructure to support these.
2) Research Support Services: The Director will oversee the Research Support Services and support a cohort of up to 130 HHS Research Staff with direct dual reporting mechanism. The position will offer HR oversight and continuous support to the McMaster Investigators conducting Research at HHSC. The Manager will support the Pan-Canadian Research Connect Network with a vision of exceeding collaboration and partnership with key influential stakeholders.
Within these portfolio, the Manager will ensure alignment of HHS Research with the global International Council for Harmonization (ICH), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Health Canada (HC) and European Medicines Agency (EMA)
The incumbent will cultivate and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Global Regulatory and government agencies, Global and National Research Community and community partners.
1. Master’s degree in Health, Sciences or equivalent experience
2. Clinical Trials Management experience
3. At least 10 years of Research Management
4. At least 5 years of research staff management
5. 10 years of recent and related experience in an academic research and/or University research setting
6. Strong interpersonal skills in order to build relationships
7. Ability to work independently as well as with a team in a fast paced environment
8. Demonstrated skill in exercising tact, empathy and sincerity in situations
9. Demonstrated experience related to hiring and performance management
