Labour Relations Coordinator

Reporting to the Manager, Employee and Labour Relations (ELR), the ELR Coordinator a comprehensive range of support services to the ELR team, including leading grievance management and coordination, supporting the collective bargaining process, and leading organizational redeployment efforts. This role supports the day-to-day labour relations activities and serves as a key resource to ELR team members, HR Business Partners (HRBPs), HR Associates, and department managers on matters related to labour relations processes, such as:

  • Coordinate redeployment of Union employees, which includes interactions with employees, department managers, the Union and Health & Ability.
  • Responsible for all administrative responsibilities related redeployment, such as scheduling meetings, preparation of agendas, notice to union, employee notice of layoff, reassignment letters, confirmation of redeployment letters, early retirement and voluntary exit approvals, preparation of staff affect listings, early retirement and voluntary exit listings.
  • Coordinate reassignment of non-union employees, in conjunction with the ELR Specialist/Associate.
  • Lead grievance tracking and metrics analysis, including updating and maintaining grievance statuses in myHR, encompassing withdrawals, resolutions, mediations, and arbitration referrals.
  • Prepare/organize recurring union meetings for grievance, redeployment, and mediation. 
  • Coordinate liability tracking of grievances and assist with annual reporting to Finance.
  • Coordinate and prepare grievance metric and analytics reports on a quarterly basis.
  • Process implementation of settlements from the arbitration & mediation process as requested.
  • Collect and prepare information to support the collective bargaining process. 
  • Support the development and implementation of fulsome Employee and Labour Relations educational programs through a variety of mediums
     

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Business Administration or related field required
• Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation preferred
• 2-3 years related experience in employee and labour relations
• Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio), HRIS (Oracle Cloud) Taleo
and SharePoint
• Understanding of relevant legislation and collective agreements including Ontario Human Rights Code, Employment
Standards Act, Ontario Labour Relations Act.
• Ability to organize and establish priorities within multiple projects and tasks, demonstrated ability to meet project and task
deadlines and adjust quickly to changing requirements
• Demonstrated effective and creative problem-solving abilities with attention to detail and accuracy, positive attitude,
initiative, and judgment in developing, adapting and applying processes to address problem situations
• Demonstrated excellence in effective communication and interpersonal skills within a
• professional environment
• Ability to handle stressful issues and communicate with a variety of people and situations in a courteous, professional
manner
• Strong team player skills with a strong sense of ownership and accountability and the ability to work independently.
