ENP Technologist

Electroneurophysiology (ENP) technologists possess the knowledge, skills, and judgment to independently perform complex diagnostic tests such as electroencephalography (EEG). Electromyography (EMG), and Evoked Potentials (EVP) using specialized and sensitive electronic diagnostic equipment.

 


Qualifications

1. College/university undergraduate degree in Health Sciences, or a related field is required with an in-depth knowledge of  neurophysiology, neuroanatomy, and basic electronics
2. Registered or eligible for registration with the Canadian Board of Registered EEG Technologists (CBRET) and the Board of Registered EMG Technologists of Canada (BRETC)
3. Member or eligible for membership in the Canadian Association of EEG Technologists (CAET) and the Association of Electromyography Technologists of Canada (AETC)
4. Preferably 2 years’ experience performing EEG or EMG with demonstrated ability to work independently using analog/digital, and portable equipment
5. Experience in outpatient, inpatient, critical care, and intra-operative settings with adult and pediatric patient populations
6. Demonstrated critical thinking, analytical, and problem solving skills in a multi-tasking high-volume environment
7. Demonstrated initiative and judgment appropriate for the position
8. Demonstrated ability to work responsibly in an interdisciplinary and collaborative team environment, demonstrating behavior consistent with HHS Values Based Code of Conduct
9. Demonstrated commitment to maintaining and improving individual competence, as well as contributing to the education and development of students and co-workers
10. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively relate to client/patient population, public and staff 
11. Demonstrated effective communication (written and verbal), organization, and interpersonal skills
12. Demonstrated computer skills including Microsoft Office, and Meditech ITS
