Drug Access Facilitator

As a Drug Access Facilitator in the retail pharmacy, the incumbent will act as an advocate for the patient, working with them to secure drug funding and financial assistance through ODB, private insurance, and manufacturer-sponsored compassionate programs. The Drug Access Facilitator will liaise with the prescriber and pharmacy to ensure that all required documentation is in place, and will assist with coordinating delivery of medications when required. The Drug Access Facilitator will also identify patients who have their prescriptions filled at specialty pharmacies in an effort to have them transfer their non-compassionate prescriptions to the retail pharmacy.

1. Post Secondary education with hospital-related certification/Degree, Pharmacy experience and Certification will be given preferred consideration
2. Experience with third party payers and assistance programs
3. Minimum 3 years oncology-related experience in an Acute Care hospital
4. Proven proficiency with computers including word processing, spreadsheet applications and e-mail systems
5. Excellent verbal and written communication skills
6. Skilled in following specific instructions with a high degree of accuracy
7. Proven excellence in interpersonal, communication, teamwork, problem-solving and organizational skills
8. Demonstrates initiative and is self-directed in identifying issues and resolving them
