Description
Reporting to the Vice President, Oncology and Juravinski Site Executive, the Director provides strategic and operational leadership for Emergency, Oncology, and Critical Care at JHCC. In close partnership with physician and interprofessional leaders, the Director ensures excellence in patient care, operational performance, and staff experience.
This role blends strategic leadership with operational accountability-advancing program development, quality improvement, innovation, and fiscal stewardship in alignment with HHS’ strategic priorities and the Ontario Cancer Plan. The Director will champion integrated models of care across the continuum, strengthen system partnerships, and sustain a culture that values learning, research, and compassionate, patient- and family-centered care.
The portfolio includes:
• An Emergency Department with over 40,000 annual visits, serving both local community and oncology populations with complex needs.
• Critical Care Services.
• Oncology Services in collaboration with the Regional Cancer Program.
The Director also participates in site leadership activities, including patient flow oversight, facility planning, and rotational after-hours administrative call coverage.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide strategic direction and operational leadership to advance clinical excellence, safety, and quality outcomes across assigned programs.
• Drive innovation in models of care that enhance access, patient experience, and efficiency.
• Foster an inclusive, collaborative, and accountable culture grounded in equity, respect, and professional growth.
• Partner with medical and administrative leaders to align operational decisions with academic, research, and teaching mandates.
• Oversee financial planning, resource allocation, and performance management to ensure sustainability and value.
• Strengthen regional and system partnerships to optimize integrated care delivery across the HNHB region
• Contribute to corporate and site-level strategic planning and risk management initiatives
• Master’s degree in Health Administration, Nursing, Business, or related discipline.
• Minimum five (5) years of progressive leadership experience within a complex health-care organization.
• Clinical background in a relevant field preferred.
• Demonstrated success leading high-performing teams in complex, interprofessional environments.
• Strong strategic, analytical, and decision-making skills, with proven financial and business acumen.
• Experience in program planning, performance improvement, and change leadership.
• Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills with a collaborative and inclusive leadership style.
• Commitment to continuous learning, innovation, and evidence-based practice.
• Demonstrated ability to navigate matrixed systems and lead through influence across organizational boundaries.
