Description
As a member of the healthcare team, the Child Life Specialist (CLS) enables children, adolescents and their families to maintain optimum development, realize normal living patterns, minimize psychological trauma and maximize adjustment as they adapt to changes in health, hospitalization and life situations. The primary focus for the CLS in this role will be to provide support to QoLA patients and their siblings, to enable them opportunities for developmentally appropriate diagnosis teaching, medical updates, explore ways to maintain meaningful family interactions, legacy building, expressive play opportunities and grief and bereavement guidance as needed.
1. Child Life Certification
2. Minimum 2 years of experience , within the last 3 years, as a Certified Child Life specialist in an acute, tertiary care setting.
3. Knowledge, skills and abilities required to work with infants, children, adolescents and their families with life limiting illnesses.
4. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work within an interdisciplinary team
5. Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment
6. Own transportation an asset for regular travel.
