The Case Management Coordinator is responsible for the adjudication of disability benefits for employees who are absent due to non-occupational illness or injury. They will support employees who are absent from work related to illness or injury, ensuring that they stay connected with the workplace and have sufficient information about the process, roles and responsibilities, supports and available resources, and will enable return to work through reasonable accommodation as needed. The Case Management Coordinator provides assists the Case Managers and leaders to facilitate early return to work and modified work programs as appropriate.
Qualifications
1. Certified Disability Management Professional or Certified Return to Work Coordinator designation (or working towards)
2. Diploma or degree in related field (ie. Human Resources, Occupational Health and Safety, Labour Relations, etc)
3. 1-3 years or more of experience in disability management
4. Knowledge and proven understanding of the Ontario Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act and Workplace Safety and Insurance Act
5. Experience working in a large, diverse, highly unionized environment with the understanding of multiple Collective Agreements
6. Excellent analytical and report preparation skills
7. Knowledge of best practice in disability management and return to work
8. Creative problem solver with the ability to interact with individuals in a high-performing work culture
9. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with proven ability to build trust at all levels of the organization; excellent relationship-building skills, influential and persuasive communication skills
10. Excellent listening skills and capacity for empathy while maintaining a professional relationship
11. Demonstrated passion for healthcare which will result in an active role as change agent driving our organization’s performance
12. Ability to develop partnerships and achieve results through others using motivation principles and negotiation skills; ability to work collaboratively within HHS and across partner institutions
13. Strong results orientation and an enthusiasm to work through a system with multiple challenges
14. Knowledge and experience working within a structured approach of program development
15. Demonstrated ability to manage own work effectively and independently
16. Working knowledge of MS Office, Internet, e-mail and HRIS applications is required.
