Business Solution Analyst

Our Business Analysts create amazing visualizations to help analyze and plan human resource recruitment and retention, demographics, compensation, productivity, scheduling and attendance. They prepare compelling analytics for standard cost, mix analysis, forecasting and optimization in areas such as Pharmacy, Labs, Diagnostic Imaging, Operating Rooms and so much more. In all, the four areas of focus include but are not limited to - Finance, Labour, Patient, and Material/Supply Utilization. 

As the Business Analyst, you will create analytics that support decision makers and drive change. You will participate in all stages of the product life cycle, including the elicitation of business needs, development and deployment of dashboards and education for our community of users. This is currently a remote role with occasional on-site collaboration in downtown Hamilton or as required. 

The successful candidates will:

  • Collaborate to solve business challenges by designing and developing dashboards that facilitate operational, financial and service improvements, using Tableau and SQL.
  • Support Data Science initiatives through activities such as requirements analysis, data cleansing and quality assurance. 
  • Assess and implement improvements to existing analytical dashboards and solutions. 
  • Elicit and document requirements, identify gaps, determine solution options and approach, and define solution scope, while ensuring a sustainable solution and long-term adoption. 
  • Contribute to the definition, implementation and maintenance of best practices for solution delivery, usability, security and availability and enhancement of data quality and consistency.
  • Support the education of our user community through participation in training workshops and creation of multi-media educational materials. 

Key skills and characteristics include: 

  • 2+ years of experience with Business Intelligence, creating dashboards and published data sources;
  • Strong working knowledge of Tableau;
  • Moderate to advanced skill in MS SQL;
  • Familiarity with JIRA and Scrumban is considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, mathematical and organizational skills;
  • A high level of initiative, the ability to take ownership of objectives and be self-directed; 
  • Experience communicating with stakeholders from information gathering stage to final dashboard publication;
  • Committed to a positive team culture, to sharing knowledge and supporting team-member goals;
  • Adaptable to changing needs and thrives in a dynamic and entrepreneurial work environment;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 including Outlook, Teams, Sharepoint, etc.; and
  • Healthcare experience with relevant data sets (CIHI DAD & NACRS, CCAC, MIS etc.), HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SharePoint and/or Python are considered assets.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will bring the following qualifications:

• University degree or college diploma in Computer Science, Business, Data Analytics, or related discipline;
• Combined 3 years of experience with some of the following: SQL, JIRA, SharePoint, M365
• Minimum 2 years of experience creating standardized and ad hoc reports in Tableau or equivalent analytics platform;
• Minimum 1 year of experience working with relevant data holdings (examples include: CIHI DAD & NACRS, CCAC, MIS and CHC data sets);
• Preferred, 3 years of experience in business intelligence and advanced analytics;
• Healthcare experience is considered an asset;
• Demonstrated analytical, problem solving, mathematical and organizational skills;
• Ability to meet, prioritize and manage multiple simultaneous tasks and deadlines;
• Ability to balance creativity with pragmatism, concepts with practical application;
• Demonstrated high level of initiative and ability to be self-directed;
• Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
